Unrig Our Elections

Win or lose, we're going to fix our election system.

Our elections are rigged. Ballot access rules prevent independent and third party candidates from running for office. Gerrymandering and redistricting allows politicians to choose who votes for them. A lack of transparency makes it hard to know if your vote counted. If we want to bring back trust in our elections, we need a free, fair election system.

My solution to that is a Voters’ Bill of Rights. The Voters’ Bill of Rights takes our federal election system from one with different systems, regulations, and rules that have allowed the Republican and Democrat Parties to control our elections to one that is accessible, transparent, and trustworthy. This ensures that every voter in America can trust our voting system, know that their vote counted, and that those in office are truly representative of the people who elected them.

Right to participate

Every American should be able to run for office, from the gas station attendant to the millionaire. The Voter’s Bill of Rights ensures reasonable ballot access requirements and fees to run for federal office. It also ensures that every candidate running has the same requirements - and Republicans and Democrats can’t give their candidates an unfair advantage.

Right to fair districts

Every citizen has the right to know their elections are fair. The Voters’ Bill of Rights empowers citizens to draw election districts, not politicians. It protects the right of voters to create independent redistricting commissions, requires redistricting transparency, allows proportional representation, and protects ballot initiatives to do any of the above.

Transparent elections

Every voter has the right to know their vote has been counted. The Voters’ Bill of Rights ensures any voter can watch the federal election process, requires voting materials and ballots be preserved after election day, and allows for public inspection of voted ballots, materials, and the code of voting machines.

Access the vote

Every voter has the right to vote on election day. The Voter’s Bill of Rights protects the right of every voter to access the voting process by ensuring documents required for Voter ID are free, restoring civil rights to citizens who have been convicted but served their time, and protecting the right of every voter to request an absentee ballot.

Secure elections

Every voter has the right to know their elections are secure. The Voters’ Bill of Rights ensures that voter registration lists are open to review and adjustment, every state’s election system is secure and encrypted, and requires every electronic vote to be backed up by a paper ballot.

Federal law requires to use our best efforts to collect and report the name, address, occupation, and employer of individuals who contribute to the Lars Mapstead for President Committee. If you don't have an employer or are retired, put N/A, and if you are self-employed put "self-employed" in employer and describe your occupation.

The maximum amount an individual may contribute is $3,300 per election. Your contribution (up to $3,300) will be designated for the primary election. Contributions from corporations, labor unions, federal contractors, and foreign nationals are prohibited.
